A few years ago we stayed at the hotel on the lake. We shared a room and had a nice dinner with a view of the water.
There was a meeting going on at the hotel and we found ourselves in the middle of a lot of business activity–there were talks and meetings in all the common rooms, and crowds of people dressed for success. We sneaked in to listen to Jerry Brown give a talk (I think it was to the Realtors).
Later on we went to the airport to pick up L. and we had a brief chance to vist before we took her to Kaiser for her interview.
We went out to the local coffee shop for breakfast before we left the next morning. It was a short, rushed weekend.
It was just a weekend, spending some time by the lake, sharing an experience together.
But now, as time has passed and our lives have moved along, I think of that brief time and hold it to my heart, as another little jewel on the necklace of my reminiscences.
A memory as a jewel on a “necklace of reminiscences.” Beautiful!
OK so the necklace line is a tad cliche.
