My Favorite Squirrel…a real tail

Squirrels are plentiful around the lake. I think it is because they are so darn cute. People like me just can’t help going back week after week to feed them. At least this was the truth in my case. I used to feed the duck and geese in the park, but only when I had a stale loaf of bread that would otherwise go to waste. One day I decided to feed the squirrels instead so I bought a bag of peanuts and went all around the lake feeding the squirrels. I guess other people feed them too because after a while they come right up to you and take the peanuts from your hand. Eventually I learned which trees and what times I would find the squirrels, and I got to recognize ones that lived in specific trees. My favorite squirel was one I named “Bruiser” for her large size and adorable habit of holding up her fists and looking at me while waiting for her next peanut.
